Chatter

The current economic climate has done good things to people in my hood. I have noticed there is more socializing. The talk is all about the economy and election but people are talking! They linger at store fronts and chat, they have a seat at thrift stores and chat, they create round table discussions at the tailors. I've been going to these businesses on Saturday mornings for years but it was the first time I have ever witnessed this sort of behavior. Beginning to have mixed feelings about the whole financial situation.

Speaking of round table discussions, enjoyed a wonderful evening at Chez Renee's. We got a nice, round, private table in the corner and had a girl's night out! The petit fours were to die for, the deserts, the wine, the cheeses, the company, it was a blissful way to spend a Saturday night.

I have discovered that nothing can cheer me up faster than a Wes Anderson film, except maybe Truffaut on a Sunday morning with my Sweetie.

I enjoyed lemon curd but now I can't get enough fig preserves. Sooooo yummy.
Though it may be way too early to wish for a nice cold day in October in Texas. I'm just saying that when it happens I have a list of goodies to make. I may just have to settle for the first dark, gloomy, Fall day we get. Yesterday, my mother in-law made red beans and rice with sausage and that ushered in the Autumn eats for me.
