Luz Arcos

Ages ago my Grandmother told me about members in her family being shot dead over sour milk. It was one of the many stories she had told me. She never did tell me there was a corrida based on that story. Luz Arcos by Los Hermanos Chavarria was recorded for Columbia in San Antonio one April in 1931.

Luciano Barrientes had sold Luz Arcos some bad milk, sour milk, so the story goes. No one really knows what made Luz Arcos so angry on December 25, 1928, but he left the farm angry and returned with a gun and shot my Grandmother's great-uncle and then shot his two sons. One November 7, 1930 he got the chair.

Listening to the song for the first time left me feeling rather creeped out. I asked my Grandmother if she had ever heard it. She said,"Of course, it was on RCA Victor"...by that I knew she meant a 78. As far as genealogy goes, there is not much to uncover in my family because all the work has already been done by other family members years ago. I we have to do is add to it. My Grandmother's side has a few holes in it. That is what this discovery was all about. I have a great-great-great Grandmother named Geronima.09%20Luz%20Arcos%20%28Parts%201%20%26%202%29.mp3
