We were in the mood for Mexican curios, mariachis, papel picado and some great Mexican food.
It always cheers me up to be around these things.
We went to El Mercado and paid a trio to sing Perfidia. I requested Como Fue from this one, lonely mariachi with a guitar. He sang his heart out because he said no one had requested that song in years and he said he loved being able to sing it again. I was too impressed and taken with his voice to whip out the camera being completely in the moment. It is in my memory forever but I so wish I could have showed you. William bought guyaberas and I picked up a stone molcajete to replace the one that lost it's leg recently. It was an awesome afternoon for us!
This all sounds so wonderful. I love San Antonio, El Mercado, and the Monkees - someday over margaritas, I'll share a story with you and William from my past, when the Monkees got me through probably the 2nd darkest time of my life. And of course, I love Kerouac - my generation!!! auntie gwen
